The client
LocumCo is an Australian pharmacy recruitment agency that places locum, permanent and contract staff (pharmacists, intern pharmacists, pharmacy assistants and dispensary technicians) in pharmacies around the country. It describes itself as the recruitment partner for more than 4,800 Australian pharmacies, draws on almost four decades of pharmacy-specific recruitment experience, and is Gold Cross endorsed as the pharmacy recruitment partner for Pharmacy Guild members.
The challenge
Pharmacies need cover for planned leave and at the last minute, and every locum has to be qualified, registered and available on the day. Arranging that by phone and email is slow for everyone. LocumCo wanted pharmacists and pharmacies to manage the whole process from their phones, without losing the personal, pharmacy-specific service its team is known for.
What we built
Two companion apps, each available for iOS and Android.
LocumCo Candidate, for pharmacy professionals:
- A locum profile with qualifications, AHPRA registration, experience, work preferences and availability, with compliance documents uploaded in the app.
- Credential checks by the LocumCo team, who verify each candidate before their account is activated.
- Personalised job matches based on the verified profile rather than random listings, with a notification as soon as a matching role is posted.
- One-tap applications, plus a view of applications, upcoming shifts and pharmacy details.
LocumCo Client, for pharmacies:
- Quick registration of the pharmacy, its locations and typical staffing needs.
- Posting locum shifts and positions with their schedule and requirements.
- Applications from verified, available pharmacy professionals, with candidate profiles and compliance documents to review.
- Accepting a pharmacist for a shift with one tap, approving digital timesheets afterwards and rating pharmacists to build a preferred locum network.
Both apps are free for pharmacists and pharmacies to download and use.
The outcome
Pharmacists can find, apply for and accept work, and pharmacies can fill shifts and sign off timesheets, each from a single app, with LocumCo’s recruitment team behind every placement. Locum staffing becomes faster for both sides.
